If you look into a club or on a stage, you often find show lasers.
A show laser is a laser that creates graphics and patterns.
The system is constructed in such a way that the laser source consists of laser diodes or DPSS laser modules. These generate a laser beam divided into red, green and blue. The laser beams are called via gratings on 2 deflecting mirror Galvoscanner, directed and brought together. The Galvoscanner then do the rest. They make it possible that the laser beams get shapes, the colors can be mixed into each other and can be moved in the X and Y axis.
Which performance classes are there?
The range of laser systems is very far-reaching. Starting with smaller lasers with slightly less power from 50mW to 800mW. Are suitable for smaller applications such as in bars, small clubs or even for solo entertainers. You can buy these devices from single color lasers such as the color green, to white light R, G, B laser.
With larger laser systems from 1000mw to 2 watts or 3 watts and higher, you can already radiate larger halls and locations.
For high end applications such as open air events and long distance projections, larger lasers are used. Here you move in power classes from 10 watts to 30 watts and more.
Which scanning speed is the right one?
For galvo scanners, the scan speed is always given in Kpps (kilo points per second).
The speed so quantified shows how fast the mirror can work on the engine of the galvo. If the installed galvoscanners are operated with frames that are faster than the specified maximum speed of the scanner, distortions can occur.
So the scanners should always play a big part in the selection of your laser.
Now comes the question, for which use does one need which scan speed.
With the common 20 or 30 Kpps scanners you can easily project beam shows and graphics. But with Galvoscanner on the upper side of the 30 Kpps much more detailed graphics and more precise movements can be achieved.
What must be considered during use?
As beautiful as the effect of the laser is, one should always keep in mind that a laser is a source of light with dangerous properties. Most lasers are subject to laser protection classes 3b and 4. The laser beams can cause damage to the skin and the eyes at these services. When using these lasers, you should always attend a seminar on laser safety officers.
